Have you watched the latest season of Stranger Things. It was soooo good yrr but i m sad that it ended.
I mean dude you will get a next series. I mean probably you are already on the series next on your list.
There was a time when people use to have a list of books to read now we have one for series.
I have personally been in a vicious cycle of Binge Watchin. Why I say it vicious coz it takes a toll on you.
Now problem with this toll is it cannot be quantified and hence isnt tangible to the viewers.
Many of you might feel this as very relatable, when u end a series you feel a certain sense of void like something is gone and then you jump on the next one. Now the issue is the void. People everywhere are so stressed out on their lives that they simply want an escape.
Many doctors reason that people binge watch go get that dopamine rush that comes with watching a movie or a series.
But it is just an escape you feel that your life is not something worth living and hence peoe engage in watching another story.
We need to understand and address the issue of how depleted is our quality of life. And this cannot be enhanced with money.
We should live so joyfully that we don't need another source of dopamine rush or another story to replace ours.
Now i have no problem in people watching a good movie or a series but binge watching have a slow long term effects on imaginative skills of people. Unlike books which force the reader to imagine the words that intricately create a scene and visualise it. Binge Watching just makes us mentally lazy and physically too.
It also ofcourse kills productivity. We binge watch for hours at a time and next day we are exhausted, we lose concentration and a sense of where we are and what we are doing. It's nothing but a very bad hangover.
And the real problem is when kids binge watch. It's soo bad not only it affects their studies but they learn a lot of ills that only mature audience can handle.
I mean children are very open to new experiences and possibilities and hence it is our responsibility as a society to help them choose wisely the content to experience and learn from.
In this banter against binge watching comes with solutions too.
Try to concentrate on building a good quality time. Create some time for your hobbies and get into the zone of being the boss when you do things that you love and are passionate about.
Spare some time to analyse what can enhance the quality of life. Whether it is changing a job or doing things differently might help.
Indulge in some creative reading. It is the best medicine for binge watching pick your fav genre and start a reading session just 0.5 hrs a day our of your binge watching schedule.
Dont drastically reduce your screen time it is not sustainable you will again go on the same routine soon.
Start slowly allocate the time you binge watch to other important activities like decrease 1 hour from binge watching and get 15 mins of extra sleep. 0.5 hours to reading 15 mins to a new hobby or an old passion.
Take baby steps towards building a quality life. And we are sure you will get there.
